Amazing content, so much to read

I finally got the digital subscription and it's incredible! The sheer volume of music journalism articles and reviews is astounding. I've been lost in the punk rock history section for days. There's so much to explore. I'm definitely renewing next year and recommending this to all my friends who love music!

Consistent quality, returning customer

This isn't my first purchase from Trouser Press; I've been a forum member for years and just renewed my annual digital subscription. What I appreciate most is the consistent quality of the content. The editorial features are always insightful, and the searchable archive gets better with time. I've bought a few collector editions in the past, and those were always well-packaged and arrived quickly. This latest renewal was as smooth as ever, which is why I keep coming back. They really are the go-to for alternative music history.

Good value with the annual plan

As a first-time buyer, I opted for the annual digital subscription because it offered a bit of a saving compared to monthly. I was looking for a good deal on music journalism. The amount of content, especially the punk rock history and new wave reviews, is huge for what I paid. I feel like I got good value for my money.

Valuable resource, some design quirks

I bought the digital subscription primarily for the Trouser Press Record Guide and access to the artist biographies. The content is genuinely invaluable for anyone interested in alternative music; it's thorough and well-written. The search function in the archive works quite well. Delivery, being digital, was instant. My main quibble is that some of the older archived pages could be presented a bit more cleanly on mobile. It's functional, but a modern refresh for the display of those particular sections would enhance the experience. Still, a worthwhile purchase for the knowledge it provides.

Can I use PayPal for a subscription? Or is it just credit cards?

D Daniel Perez 3 weeks ago
I'm pretty sure I paid with a card. Don't remember seeing PayPal as an option.

I used my credit card when I signed up. They usually list accepted payment methods clearly at checkout, but I'd expect standard card options for sure.

Is the Trouser Press Record Guide actually online, like fully searchable? Or is it just snippets?

S Sam J. 1 month ago
The whole thing is online and searchable with a digital subscription. It's super handy.

Yep, all of it is there. You can search by artist, album, whatever. It's awesome for finding new old bands.

How quick is the access to the digital archive after you sign up? Is it instant or do you have to wait for an email or something?

M Mark Lopez 1 month ago
Pretty sure it's instant access. Once your payment goes through, you just log in.

Yeah, I signed up for a subscription last year and it was immediate. Didn't have to wait for any activation codes or anything like that.

Thinking of getting a digital sub, but are there any current deals going on? Don't wanna pay full price if there's a coupon floating around.

S Susan T. 1 month ago
I got a newsletter sign-up bonus a while back, worth checking if they still do that. It was for like 15% off an annual sub.

They usually only do discounts for annual plans and sometimes around holidays like Black Friday. You'd probably find it through a direct link or if you get their newsletter.

Are there actual physical magazines available to buy? Or is it all digital now?

R Rachel Moore 1 week ago
They stopped printing the magazine a long time ago. What you can get now are 'back issues' but those are typically digital, or reprints/collections if you're lucky to find them.

It's mostly digital archive these days. Finding original print issues would be more of a collector's hunt on eBay, not from them directly, afaik.
